In honor of those sweet memories, McDonald’s has launched their limited-edition Grandma McFlurry. The frozen treat is a tasty new McFlurry that will remind you of those times with your grandmother.
The Grandma McFlurry Nostalgia
Do you remember always going to your grandma and asking her if she had something sweet in her purse? There was probably a high chance that your grandmother had some candy stashed away somewhere in her gigantic, never-ending purse.
For some reason, those candies usually consisted of butterscotch. Those candies always hit the spot. It’s no wonder why McDonald’s has chosen their limited edition McFlurry to contain butterscotch.
Although it recently came out, the McFlurry has garnered a ton of attention from those wanting to revisit those sweet memories with their grandmothers. Some are even bringing their grandmothers along to test out these delicious treats.
What Is A Grandma McFlurry?
You might be wondering why there is so much attention on a McFlurry. This particular McFlurry is special because now it’s our turn to treat our grandmothers with something sweet.
The Grandma McFlurry consists of McDonald’s notorious vanilla ice cream base with a butterscotch crumble (chopped, crunchy candy pieces) and Grandma Syrup, aka butterscotch syrup, drizzled throughout it. It’s a sweet and rich treat that will take you back to simpler times when you and grandma would be at McDonald’s for hours on a Friday afternoon.
The McFlurry is so special that McDonald’s also created a special-edition cup for their treat. The cup has “xoxo, Grandma” written on the side, a loving reminder of how grandmas would leave a note with treats.
McFlurry Toppings
Although the McFlurry is all about butterscotch, it does not mean you have to stick with those specific toppings when you order a McFlurry. You can also change up your toppings or add additional toppings to your McFlurry.
You can substitute caramel instead of the Grandma Syrup, or even chocolate. You can add crushed Oreos or M&Ms to your McFlurry if you want a different topping, with a splash of hot fudge to make your taste buds scream in delight.
Another tip is to buy some McDonald’s cookies and make them into an ice cream sandwich. You know you and your grandma deserve an extra dessert like she always gave you.
Two Popular Cover Songs To Honor Grandmas
Being loved by a grandma is one of the most incredible feelings in the world. To add to the nostalgia of this special occasion, McDonald’s partnered with Remi Wolf and Jay Wheeler to cover two songs to devote this time to our grandmas all over the world.
Remi Wolf covered the classic song “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You).” Wolf is a singer-songwriter and noted that this partnership was a “sweet surprise” for her.
Jay Wheeler, who is a Puerto Rican star, covered “Piel Canela,” This partnership fit Wheeler like a glove since he is a self-proclaimed “abuela’s boy” and had plenty of memories at McDonald’s with his abuela. Wheeler remembers being rewarded with a McDonald’s visit when he did well as a child, and it was also just for a fun visit.
