Earthing is the practice of making a connection with the earth, where you transfer energy from the earth into your body. You can do this in several ways, both naturally or with conductive products for use when you cannot be outside. Here, we are going to talk about connection through dance.
There have been drastic changes in the way we live over the last 100 years. We have so many responsibilities: work, kids, school, engagements. We are so busy that we have lost the healthy connection to the earth’s surface we once had as a natural part of our days. Over the last few years, many have started to recognize our lack of connection as a problem for our mental and physical well-being.
This connection is now referred to as Earthing. While busy has been the word to describe our lives in present times, the recent pandemic has given many of us new insight as to why self-care is important and necessary. People are starting to slow down and take time for themselves.
What Does Earthing Through Dance Do?
Many understand that raising our internal vibrations is important to maintaining a healthy mind and body. Not only is dance an amazing way to exercise, but it is also a way to raise that vibrational energy. Raising these internal vibrations can improve our energy levels, alter our mood, help bring clarity to our minds and thoughts, and improve our physical and mental health through the release of endorphins.
Earthing is the practice of making contact with the earth by touching the ground with as little between your skin and the ground’s surface as possible. This connection allows you to share or collect important electrons present in the soil.
According to Oschman’s research report with the National Library of Medicine, earthing through connecting directly with the soil, rocks, or water can have many physiological benefits to your body. This includes its effects on “inflammation, immune responses, healing wounds, even for preventing and treating chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases (Oschman, 2015).”
Earthing through dance would allow you to gain from both. You would connect and exchange those wonderful healing electrons from our mother earth and raise internal vibrations allowing your body to use and process those collected electrons to further bring you healthy benefits for both your mind and your body.
So why would you not dance barefoot in your backyard in the name of a healthy mind and body?
Conclusion
So, get out in your backyard, find a private place in the park, or a not-private place. Take those shoes off, and wear comfortable clothes made with natural fibers. Make sure you can connect with the earth with as little between you and the ground as possible, and dance!
Spin, step, swing, twirl, roll, jump, and sing to yourself to music while you dance your way to a healthier mind and body. You can even meditate on your movements while you dance! Make the experience tri-fold: It can improve your mind, mood, and physical health, and it will make you happy!
