Soto has since changed her story, saying that she last saw her daughter the night before Madeline was murdered.
Of course, there is also Jenn Soto saying “we” when describing her daughter being dropped off at school. However, she later clarifies that it was just Stephan Sterns who took her that morning. Was she intentionally trying to confuse the police or misrepresent facts, or was it just a simple mistake in a stressful moment?
Mother and Daughter Disagreements
The day before Madeline passed away, she told her friends that she wanted to run away and live in the woods once she turned 13. This speaks to the little girl’s mindset about her home life. In an interview with a friend of Madeline, they reported that they had heard the 13-year-old girl say her mother was going to kick her out of the house and disown her once Madeline turned 18 or 19. Jenn Soto really knows how to make a solid nomination for mom of the year.
Jenn Soto Ignores Red Flags
Jenn would often send her teenage daughter to sleep with her boyfriend, Stephan Sterns, in a guest room. Typically, all three of them slept together, but when mom needed her uninterrupted beauty sleep, she would just send her young daughter off to sleep with her 37-year-old boyfriend. She was quoted in a detective report as saying, “She needed to get some rest due to her new job making her very tired she would sleep better alone.”
