I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t want their little outdoor oasis to escape frequently. Or even to have a place they can run off to gather their thoughts, relax, read a book, or merely watch the world go by. An outdoor oasis should make life more relaxing and not less. So, I’ve come up with some tips and ideas on ways to update a patio or outdoor space on a budget without needing to hire someone to do it for you or expending thousands of dollars to accomplish your goal.
Installing a Swing Set
The easiest of these to do is to install a swing set somewhere around your house. This is the perfect addition and one of the most inexpensive too. All you have to do is purchase or build the swing (depending on your particular woodworking skills) on your porch or from a well-supported tree nearby, and you’re done! You can dress it up with some fancy cushions, blankets, pillows, and so on to make the ideal addition to your outdoor oasis in which you can relax.
One thing you can do to involve the whole family, which is especially relevant if you have kids, is to design a set of decorations or ornaments to keep in or around your swing set. You don’t even necessarily require new parts or anything particularly fancy to pull this off. It’s entirely feasible to make your ornaments using nothing but old recyclables and things that would otherwise be considered “trash.”
Build a Custom Patio Privacy Screen
One thing that every outdoor oasis can benefit from is a privacy screen. Sitting out on your patio without the concern of random neighbors peeking over the tree line at you can only be a net positive, after all. Not to mention the unique look and feel a privacy screen will inevitably provide.
At first glance, it may appear that this will be a difficult and convoluted undertaking, but it’s not that hard. Most of the work comes from cutting up the boards and screwing them together. Furthermore, if you happen to be someone who does a lot of woodworking projects, then the odds are good that you have some spare wood lying around from those projects. So, rather than throwing it out or buying new wood, you can make use of those materials by recycling them in the process of making your privacy screen.
Backyard Fire Pit for Outdoor Oasis
A nice thing to have for any outdoor oasis is a fire pit. This is especially nice for the winter months, but even at the height of summer, there is something truly relaxing about being able to stick some wood in a fire pit and sit around the flames as the sun speeds on its’ way to the other side of the world. How expensive this is to put together really depends on where your priorities are.
If you want a cheap setup, you can easily dig a small hole in the ground and take some stones or bricks to make a circle around it. Alternatively, you can always spend some extra to get some quality stones and install a couple of recliners to lean back and relax by a little fire. It really depends on what you want.
