Whether you get a hamburger from the grocery store or at Wendy’s, a cold hamburger patty is never tasty. You try to reheat it in the microwave but it comes out too hot and more cooked than you wanted it to be. Or it has a rubbery consistency that only a microwave can leave in your mouth.
We usually reach for the quickest way to warm up food, but the quickest way is not always the best way. Why is the microwave not always the best way? Is it even a healthy way to warm up food in the microwave? These and other questions will be explored in this article as there are several ways to reheat food specifically hamburger patties.
Other foods that are not as easy to reheat are pizza. But did you know that you could reheat pizza on a skillet on medium heat for just a few minutes? It will taste just like it came fresh out of the oven. Here are some tips and tricks to use for hamburger patties.
Reheating Hamburger Patty: Air Fryer
When food is first cooked to order, it’s best consumed. However, due to portion sizes, it may be impossible for a person to finish their entire meal in one sitting. Then they have leftovers. And leftovers are really good when properly reheated. Fortunately, there are some tips and tricks you can use to better reheat a burger.
One of the more popular kitchen inventions is the air fryer. Many people now have an air fryer in their kitchen and it is a perfect way to reheat things, especially, I have found, subway sandwiches (Yum!). Put your hambuger in the air fryer between 325 and 400 degrees and let the meat sit for 15 minutes at room temperature before reheating. Then reheat for 6 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 155-165 degrees.
One benefit of the air fryer is that you can heat it just like an oven. So, if you don’t have an air fryer you can use the convection oven setting on your oven and it will be almost the same as using an air fryer. Both use hot air to circulate the food. Afterward, reassemble the burger with your condiments.
Reheating a Burger: Oven

Just like the air fryer, make sure you have all the condiments off as food such as lettuce should not be heated in the oven. You may put the cheese on during the last few minutes of cooking or you can choose to put the cheese on during the whole time it is cooking.
Leave it out for a few minutes at room temperature and make sure not to leave it out too long as bacteria will start to grow. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and pop in your hamburger onto an oven-safe dish for about 7-10 minutes or until the meat reaches 165 degrees F.
For the oven, you want to make sure your burger is flipped halfway through reheating to evenly cook it. Add the cheese back on during the last two minutes of cooking. Finally, once the burger is done reheating, reassemble the burger with your condiments. If you plan to reheat your bun, make sure you wrap the top and the bottom separately in aluminum foil.
Reheating a Burger: Grilling
Another way you can reheat a burger is over the grill. These temperatures will be much the same as the oven. Let the burger set out for about 20 minutes before reheating. This will help the burger cook more evenly. Preheat the grill to 350 degrees F.
Once preheated, the burgers will need to sit on the grill for 7-10 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F. Always make sure your meat is properly heated to the right temperature. Eating undercooked meat is a great way to get food poisoning.
Again, make sure you take off the condiments like the lettuce, tomato, etc., and, if you can, take the cheese off and put the cheese on last once the burger is hot and fresh. The reason you want to take the cheese off is so it won’t overcook while you’re cooking the burger. Once finished, enjoy your nice tasty burger once more!
