A member of Donald Trump’s Department of Justice has publicly said that he believes former First Lady Jill Biden should be charged with “elder abuse” for not publicly sharing what she knew about her husband’s health issues. The comments were made by senior Justice Department official Leo Terrell, who is the senior counselor to the assistant attorney general for civil rights. Soon after Biden’s diagnosis was made public, Terrell went on the attack.
Jill Biden Accused
Terrell suggested that Biden’s cancer was hidden from the public, as was his cognitive decline. He made his comments on X in response to a post that claimed that Jill Biden “knew about President Biden’s health problems” but “still wanted him to run for president.”
“Elder abuse! Criminal charges??” Terrell responded. Terrell also went on to repost several comments claiming that Jill Biden had been neglectful. Terrell also reposted many similar reactions to his about Jill Biden’s supposed neglect. ‘
Elder Abuse
“Elder abuse is a form of domestic violence, and Dr. Biden has a lot of explaining to do about her part in defrauding the American people and taxpayers,” one post that Terrell shared read. “I would never wish Joe Biden physical harm despite my personal political views; too bad his own family compromised his well-being,” the post added.
Another response Terrell shared on X read, “His medical team should have caught this years ago! Shame on Jill & all who turned their heads & ignored this! They indeed are guilty of elder abuse & if they have him go thru [sic] any medical procedure now, radiation or chemo, they should be shot! But they wanted the attention & status at any cost.”
MAGA Attacks Jill Biden
Many MAGA supporters used the social media platform X to suggest that the former president’s prostate cancer was hidden from the public. Some right-leaning medical experts claimed it was “inconceivable” that the cancer was undetected if it had been potentially spreading for years.
“What I want to know is how did Dr. Jill Biden miss stage five metastatic cancer, or is this yet another coverup???” Donald Trump Jr. posted to X. Trump Jr. had mistaken Jill Biden’s doctorate in education for a medical degree. Later, Donald Trump said that “somebody isn’t telling the facts” concerning Biden’s diagnosis.
Joe Biden Makes First Comment
All of Joe Biden’s results from his physicals were publicly released from 2021 to 2025, and none of them mentioned prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening. The screening is used to find early signs of prostate cancer. The test is highly recommended for men 50 and over by the American Cancer Society.
On Monday morning, former President Joe Biden shared an image of himself, Jill Biden, and their cat, Willow, on X. It was the first time he’d spoken out since his diagnosis became public. “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support,” the post read.
