The buzz about the Epstein files has received an alleged bombshell this week. From key ally to US President Donald Trump to enemy, Elon Musk has fallen out with Trump over his “Big Beautiful Bill.” The pair has exchanged blows on social media, and the feud erupted with a serious accusation made by Musk. The relationship crashed and burned as quickly as it had begun.
Is Trump Refusing to Release Epstein Files?
The feud started when Musk criticized Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” in the Oval Office. He pulled no punches in his displeasure with the bill. The bill was passed by House Republicans in a tight vote late last month and was unsurprisingly met with controversy due to concerns about cuts to essential services, such as SNAP and Medicaid. In a live broadcast interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Musk said that he was “disappointed” with the bill.
He added, “I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing. I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful,” Musk told CBS News, “but I don’t know if it can be both. My personal opinion.”
In response, Trump said that he was “disappointed” with Musk’s comments on Thursday while speaking on television in the Oval Office. At one point, Trump said Musk had gone “CRAZY” in a social media post. The exchange grew more intense from there and took a wild turn when Musk made a grave accusation against Trump.
Without providing evidence, Musk tweeted that Trump’s name is in the Jeffrey Epstein files. He posted, Time to drop the massive bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT! Musk didn’t stop there; he followed up with another post, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
Musk doubled down and responded to a user: Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.” During the 2024 election, Musk spent more than $270 million during that election cycle. The back-and-forth grew more intense as Trump even threatened to “terminate Elon’s governmental susidies and contracts.”
Trump had previously said in the past, addressing the Epstein files, “This is what the Democrats do to their Republicans Opponent who is leading them, by a lot, in the Polls. This is A.I., and it is very dangerous for our Country! Also, I was never on Epstein’s Plane or at his “stupid” Island. Strong laws ought to be developed against AI. It will be a big and very dangerous problem in the future! Trump hasn’t publicly objected to the public release of the Epstein files, which is under Justice Department review. Many disturbing revelations were in the Epstein files.
Final Thoughts
Epstein died by suicide in 2019 when he was in prison. Trump’s name in an address book, and flight logs of Epstein’s plane have been heavily reported. Also, the US President’s association with Epstein has been widely and publicly reported. The president also pushed back on Musk’s comments while speaking to reporters at the White House on Thursday, “Look, Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore.” In other news, Meagan Jackson’s upcoming murder trial will begin on June 9.
