Finding your fishing spot and a good day to fish is the first step in this process. There are a lot of good places to fish all depending upon your location. You can fish at a river, pond, lake, stream, creek, or ocean, if there’s water there is a chance fish are nearby.

Believe it or not, the weather can make or break your fishing experience. An 80-degree sunny day seems perfect for fish, but if you are hot, so are the fish. Think of it this way, after a long day at the beach your belly usually is not too hungry. That’s how fish are too. The best weather to fish in is cloudy. Fish are looking for food more than they do on bright days. Light rain is also great to fish in because insects and live bait get washed into the water causing the fish to come up.

Bait

It is harder to set up fake bait when you can just hook a worm right on your pole and throw her in, it is as easy as it seems.

Tackle

Starting out you will want at least a 5-pound line, a few bobbers, an assortment hook box, and an assortment weight box. If you are feeling adventurous a couple of swim bait and a couple of sinker baits will get you the dinner you’re looking for.
