Eyes and flies might seem to be rather boring things. Human beings, as well as many other creatures, have them, and while they are beautiful, some might think that they are pretty basic. But that could not be further from the truth. There are actually many different facts one should know about eyes.
Furthermore, the same can be said about flies. They are small and delicate little creatures that can be quite a nuisance at times. But the truth of the matter is that they are actually pretty interesting, even though they can be annoying sometimes.
In addition to that, they are not as simple as they appear to be. Flies can be very complex insects, and there are quite a few intriguing things that everyone should know about them. In fact, just the amount of eyes that they have is a fascinating fact all on it’s own. They have more than humans do.
Flies Have Many Eyes

There are tons of creatures, including human beings, out there that have two eyes. Additionally, just based on a common fly’s appearance, it might seem as though they also only have two eyes.
But the truth is much more interesting than that. They may be very small bugs, but the number of eyes that they have is pretty high. It turns out that they have a total of five eyes and that their eyes are very small.
In addition to that, they have quite a lot of legs as well. That is a bit more obvious, however. Each section of their body has its own set of legs, which means that they have six legs. Also, the anatomy of a fly contains three different sections.
The Female Housefly Can Lay Many Eggs
Since flies are such small creatures, it is hard to imagine them having as many eyes and legs as they do. In addition to that, it is also hard to imagine them laying a lot of eggs at one time. However, they are great at reproducing, and they can do so rather quickly.
One very interesting fact about flies is that they can lay between 75 to 150 eggs in one batch alone. Also, anyone who has ever had to deal with a fly-related problem likely knows that they often lay many batches throughout their lifetimes. That’s a lot of flies!
House Flies Can Spread Many Diseases
Flies are interesting little bugs, even though they are unpleasant to deal with. Furthermore, they might seem like they are insignificant, and like they are not particularly harmful. However, that is definitely not the case.
That is especially true for flies that are commonly found in houses. That is because they feed and lay eggs on things like garbage and dead animals. This means that they tend to be able to carry lots of diseases that can be very bad for humans. Some of the diseases that they can carry include ones like cholera, typhoid fever, anthrax, and even dysentery.
Despite their simple appearance and their size, flies can have quite an important impact on the world. They have many eyes; they can lay lots of eggs at once (and many throughout their lives), and they can be dangerous.
