Witnesses state that the victim, Metcalf, and the suspect, Anthony, did not know each other before the altercation. According to reports, Anthony came under the tent where Metcalf was located. Witnesses stated that Metcalf told Anthony that he needed to leave. This is when Anthony allegedly opened his bag and reached into it, telling Metcalf to “touch me and see what happens.”

Differing witness statements claim Metcalf either touched or grabbed Anthony to move him away from his group. After this, a witness stated that Anthony “stabbed Austin once in the chest and then ran away.” Metcalf immediately told his friends to get help while he grabbed his chest, where the stab wound was located. When police arrived, Metcalf was already unconscious or not breathing. Athletic trainers had attempted CPR to no avail.

Metcalf’s twin brother, Hunter, was also at the scene and spoke to officers and ABC News. Hunter stated that the argument “went back and forth and then Austin stood up and pushed the male to get him out of the tent,” according to the arrest report. “I tried to whip around as fast as I could, but I didn’t see the stab. It was really senseless. I don’t know why a person would do that to someone just over that little argument.”

According to CBS News Texas, Jeff Metcalf, Austin’s father, said after the Frisco stabbing, “My other son, who was there, I was holding his hands on the hole trying to save his life. He told me, I looked at him, his eyes — he was gone, he wasn’t breathing.” Metcalf was then transported to a local hospital, where he died upon arrival.

Suspect in the Frisco Stabbing Claims Self-Defense

According to police reports and a court affidavit, Karmelo Anthony approached police unprovoked and told them that he was “protecting himself.” He also reportedly claimed he was not an alleged suspect; he “did it”. He also said that Metcalf “put his hands on me. I told him not to.” At one point, he also asked if the victim was going to be okay. He also inquired with the police about possibly claiming self-defense in the incident.

When being walked away from the crime scene, Anthony was visibly emotional and crying. An officer recovered a bloody knife at the scene of the stabbing. The Frisco stabbing suspect is currently being held at the Collin County Jail on a $1 million bond on one charge of murder. His family and attorney have declined to comment at this time.
