Honey bees are very interesting little creatures. Part of what makes them so interesting is the fact that they have such a distinct look. In addition to that, they do not look much like other insects, but they do fall into that category. Furthermore, while some might be scared of them (which is perfectly reasonable for those who are allergic to them), they can actually be beneficial. Also, they’re fun to learn about.
Stinging Amputates Them
Some bugs are pretty mysterious to human beings since it is impossible to experience life from their point of view. Additionally, one good example of that is the lightning bug. Lightning bugs are incredible little things, and the same can be said for this kind of bee.
One of the most interesting facts about these little insects is that they die right after they sting something. Furthermore, those who have a weak stomach may not want to look into that since the thing that happens right after they sting is quite gruesome.
Essentially, when these bees sting a person, they are unable to pull their stingers out of that person’s skin. This means that they end up splitting their bodies into two pieces after the stinging takes place, which results in them meeting their death.
They Kick Males Out Of Their Hives
Sometimes, keeping bugs out of a garden is necessary. However, one interesting thing is that gardens are not the only things bugs can get kicked out of. Furthermore, sometimes bugs try to keep each other out of certain places, which may surprise some people.
Additionally, these bees fall into that category. They are separated into three groups in each of their hives: the queen, workers, and drones. The queen bees and worker bees are always female, and all of the males are drones. When winter hits, the drones get kicked out of the hive.
They Fly Very Fast
There are a lot of people out there who can run extremely fast, but the cool thing about these bugs is that they can move even faster. This might be hard for one to imagine since they are so tiny, but it is true. They are extremely powerful little creatures.
In fact, they can fly at approximately 20 miles per hour, which is incredible. Perhaps one of the things that helps make that possible is the fact that they have more than one set of wings. It turns out that they have two sets of wings.
Honey Bees Can Fire Their Queen
Firing someone is tough, but sometimes it just has to happen. Humans do it a lot, but they aren’t the only ones. It turns out that even insects do this. Additionally, honey bees are one of a few examples of this.
Being a queen is an important thing to do, especially in the world of honey bees. One responsibility that the queen has is to lay eggs. When she is no longer able to fulfill her duties, the other bees end up finding a replacement for her.
Their Sense Of Smell Is Better Than That Of A Dog
Dogs have a great sense of smell, but it turns out that these bugs have an even better one. To be more specific, their sense of smell is 50 times stronger than that of a dog.
From why they die after stinging someone to how powerful their sense of smell is, these creatures are proof that nature is a powerful and amazing thing. These creatures may be very small, but they are very fun bugs to learn about.
