The husband of Suzanne Simpson has reportedly been charged with murder a month after she went missing. On November 7, 2024, Brad Simpson, was charged in connection to Suzanne’s disappearance. His bond for murder is set at $2 million; however, combining his other criminal charges, it totals $5 million. Although a body has not been found, the investigators believe they can proceed with the evidence they have.
The Disappearance of Suzanne Simpson
Suzanne Simpson was a real estate agent and a mother of four. She was last seen outside her home in Olmos Park, Texas. A witness reported to police they saw Suzanne and Brad get into a physical altercation the day before she went missing. The day of, other witnesses had seen them get into a fight at a dinner club in Alamo Heights. On October 9, Brad Simpson was taken into custody and charged with assault of a family member and unlawful restraint. As if that was not enough, he was also charged with evidence tampering and unlawful possession of a weapon. He has been held in jail on a $3 million bond related to those charges.
A month after Suzanne Simpson went missing, her husband was officially charged with her murder. On the night of her disappearance, a neighbor witnessed the married couple fighting on their front lawn. He explained Suzanne was attempting to run away but Brad was pulling her down. A short while after the couple fled the area, the neighbor went outside to investigate. He heard several screams from a wooded area nearby. An hour later, the neighbor saw Brad leave in his truck and did not return for another two hours. The search for Suzanne Simpson is ongoing, but there do not seem to be any leads or further evidence. That’s what was released to the public at least.
Domestic Violence Awareness
Suzanne Simpson’s 20-year-old daughter recently posted a series of Instagram stories related to her mother’s disappearance. One of her posts said, “Suzanne Simpson was a victim of abuse and a victim of this community. Beyond being a victim, she was a phenomenal mother, hardworking, driven, loving, and kind.” She continued to post about domestic violence and encouraged women to speak up, reassuring them that their voices would be heard. She alleges her dad is responsible for her mother’s disappearance. She stated in another post that her father, “took my mother’s life in a state of rage and control.”
Domestic violence is a serious and concerning issue in the United States. Many people are affected by the abuse, not just the individual experiencing it first-hand. 1 in 2 women and 2 in 5 men experience domestic violence at the hands of their intimate partner. There are many resources available for the victims; however, they might not be accessible to all. A lot of victims cannot reach out for help. Simpson’s daughter believes women, specifically those who experience abuse, within the Alamo Heights community, are told to be silent. It can be difficult to speak up, but you might save your own life or someone else’s.
Final Thoughts
Brad Simpson’s brother, Barton, reported to KSAT, “It is heartbreaking, but it brings our family some peace to know that authorities have gathered sufficient evidence to feel confident in moving forward with charges.” He continued, “This also helps us to come to terms with the reality that Suzanne is no longer with us, allowing us to begin a difficult grieving process and focus on rebuilding our lives, especially for the sake of the children and our extended family. We remain appreciative to all law enforcement involved for their professionalism in dealing with this situation.”
