Anti-Trump Protest Saw Hollywood Star That Vanished for Years Reappear

Jodie Sweeney attends anti-Trump protest

After disappearing from Hollywood for years, actress Jodie Sweetin has stepped back into the spotlight. Sweetin participated in a large-scale anti-Trump protest held in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday. She wore a hat that read, “We f—-ing hate Donald Trump.” Her hat quickly became a popular social media topic. Sweetin, 43, became a household name for her role as Stephanie Tanner in the popular television show “Full House.” Sweetin spoke during the anti-Trump protest on the steps of City Hall.

The anti-Trump protest was one of the hundreds of Hands Off! Protests that took place across the country on Saturday. According to the grassroots organization that organized the protests, nearly 500,000 people signed up to participate in the protests all around the country. Cities across the U.S. saw protests and marches.

Protests Organized by a Grassroots Organization

The Trump protests were organized to give Americans the opportunity to respond to mounting concerns about the actions of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. “This mass mobilization day is our message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies,” the event description for the “Hands Off” protest reads.

“Alongside Americans across the country, we are marching, rallying, and protesting to demand a stop [to] the chaos and build an opposition movement against the looting of our country,” it added.

This Was Not Jodie Sweetin’s First Trump Protest

Sweetin, who refers to herself as an activist on Instagram, wore all black and sunglasses and a baseball cap. She used her social media to let followers know she would be participating in the “peaceful protest.” This protest was not Sweetin’s first anti-Trump protest. During a protest in 2022, the actress was pushed to the ground by police as she protested for abortion rights.

During the protest20-foot balloon, which depicted Donald Trump wearing a diaper, was on display as well as a 15-foot balloon of Trump wearing a Russian military uniform. Sweetin was not the only celebrity to speak during the protest. Comedian Francesca Fiorentini also spoke out against Trump.

Anti-Trump Protests Across The Country

Protests took place across the country on Saturday in major cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Protests were also held in several small towns as well. In Washington, thousands of protesters gathered not far from ICE headquarters, protesting the detention of Tufts University students Rumeysa Ozturk, Ranjani Srinivasani, and Mahmoud Khalil.

Ozturk, 30, is a doctoral student from Tufts. She was taken into custody while walking through a Boston suburb. She was quickly transferred to a detention center in Louisiana. According to the Department of Homeland Security, the students were all detained over “support for Hamas.” The comments quickly fueled backlash from civil rights organizations.

“During the demonstrations, protesters raised signs that read ‘You can’t spell hatred without red hat,’ ‘Let GAZA live,’ and even Elon Musk was targeted with signs like, ‘Grab Musk by the teslacles.” The protests all remained peaceful.
