Jay Slater: Latest Update on His Tragic Disappearance

Since June 17th, people have been hunting for Jay Slater, 19, despite the Spanish police calling off the investigation. The family is still devastated as they approach the three-week mark since they lost their boy, but they haven’t lost hope. The family and a team of volunteers are still searching for Jay as they search for leads. There are many theories surrounding his disappearance. What started as a fun trip to attend a rave in Playa de las Americas turned into a sorrowful missing case that could turn cold.

Spanish Authorities Call Off Jay Slater Investigation

The police thoroughly searched for Jay Slayter for 13 days through mountainous terrain and Rural de Teno National Park in northwest Tenerife, employing helicopters, drones, specialist dogs, and volunteer experts. When their efforts turned fruitless, they decided to call the investigation off.

This choice opened them up to criticism from the British police, who offered their assistance. Their offers to help were met with the Spanish authorities, who said they were “satisfied they had the resources they needed.” There are speculations that the Spanish police know more than meets the eye. However, a mayor in Tenerife insists that detectives are still pursuing several lines of inquiry.

The Family Attempts To Find Slater Alone

The family has raised £50,000 through GoFundMe, which they are utilizing to search for the teen. They were waiting for authorities to let them use some of the donations raised to pay for specialist search and rescue teams. The Guardia Civil has later confirmed that such teams can be brought in “without any problem” to help with the hunt for Jay Slater but must notify officers for “proper coordination.” His uncle Glen Duncan, 41, in addition to eight other relatives and volunteers, have flown out to join the search for him. It’s been a tortuous and heartbreaking search for the family, but they’re trying feverishly to hang onto the hope of finding Slater.

A Private Investigator Gives the Family Hope

Army reservist and private investigator Juan García is doing his best to guide Jay Slater’s mother on how to pursue this investigation. Garcia concluded that “two weeks is too premature to end the search.” He also claims that “[Slater] could be alive somewhere — someone can drink from rainwater and eat plants. The family should not give up hope.” One can hope that what he’s saying is true and that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Especially since there’s an Irish tourist who has been found after being lost in Tenerife before.

A Journalist Poses a New Theory

Journalist Nick Pisa, who is following Jay Slater’s case in Tenerife, is posing a theory based on a conversation with an ex-British Army officer. The theory is that Slater’s phone might have been “thrown” before his disappearance since the only way for the phone’s GPS location to be possible would be “if the phone was thrown.” The phone was found in a steep area that was covered in undergrowth and cacti, which is hard to get to. Either somebody has used a machete to get there, or someone might have flung the phone into that thick vegetation.

The truth behind what really happened and Jay Slater’s whereabouts and fate are still a mystery. Stay current with updates from Total Apex.
