Unprofessional and regrettable don’t even cover the text messages Trooper Proctor read in the Karen Read trial in court on Day 22 of the trial on June 10th, 2024. It was hard to pay attention to any other part of Proctor’s testimony because our ears were bleeding from the messages. Agent Brian Higgins reading out his spicy texts with Karen Read in open court was scarring enough, but now we’ll never be the same after Trooper Proctor rolled through.
Trooper Proctors Texts Of Shame
Trooper Proctor has embarrassed himself, his family, his friends, and his entire department during his testimony so far. We’ll go with the low-hanging fruit first. He gave nuanced information about the case to his friends and family. He had Karen Read pegged as the guilty party within a day of the incident. And also, there may be some kind of disagreement between the medical examiner and the police. We won’t get into that last one, though, until we have more information.
Then Proctor read his text messages in open court in the now-infamous Karen Read trial, which are some of the most scathingly cringy texts known to man. The cringe level is off the scale. No one who has encountered this level of cringe will ever be the same. We had to hear a grown man read his disparaging, disgusting, and degrading descriptions of the defendant, which left most of us speechless and horrified.
He described Ms. Read to his friends as being a “wackjob c**t, “a babe,” having “no as*,” being “a nut job like Chief would say,” having a “leaky balloon knot,” and saying “she leaks p*o.” With coworkers, he described her as being a part of a group of “women who sh*t themselves” and sent a photo of her attorney with the message, “going through his r*t*rded client’s phone (Karen Read’s phone), no nudes so far, I hate that man. I truly hate him.” One of his supervisors actually liked the photo and message, which speaks to the credibility of the entire department.
A Conflict of Interest
Besides the texts from hell, one other thing particularly stood out during Proctor’s testimony. The trooper calls, texts, and FaceTimes his sister five to six times a day despite being a full-time homicide detective, which is incredibly odd. What is less odd and more disconcerting is the relationship that exists between Proctor’s very close sister and her relationship with a member of the Albert family. It could mean a lot, or it could mean nothing. It is alarming considering how tight-knit friendships and cliques appear to be in the Canton community.
Is The Karen Read Trial A Sham?
We can mostly agree that this case should never have gone to trial with the evidence and preparation the prosecutor has. Having the officer over the case talk about the defendant the way he did, with the knowledge of his supervisors, at least in part, speaks to the overall credibility of the case. It’s hard to trust a man and his supervisors who conduct themselves with a lack of professionalism that could taint overall objectivity.
Does that mean that Trooper Proctor or anyone else could do something like allegedly plant evidence? Let’s just say that kind of talk doesn’t raise confidence in the overall integrity of the case. It certainly doesn’t mean that the trooper would do something like that, but it raises a question. Perhaps there is a reasonable doubt.
