Former NFL star Lawrence Taylor is no longer facing felony charges! He was arrested last month, and we were all worried that LT would be retiring his wild ways in the slammer. Have no fear, though; Taylor will be back tearing up the golf course like nobody’s business soon. For the folks too young to have seen him in his hayday, think of Antonio Brown, but more vivacious. He’s had a troubled past, but no one who has ever seen him will forget him.
Who Is LT?
Lawrence Taylor is a Pro Football Hall of Fame legend. He was selected number two overall in the 1981 draft by the New York Giants. He was also the NFL’s MVP in 1986. With a total of 13 seasons in the game, he had nine interceptions, was an all-pro nine times, was in the pro bowl 10 times, and had a law-dropping 132.5 sacks overall.
While Lawrence Taylor was a beast on the field, he was a complicated character off of it. We will dabble a little bit in discussing his past, but it’s not exactly family-friendly, so we will save all the glass-eating shenanigans at parties for another day. LT is still facing the consequences of his action to this day, and one of those consequences included being arrested in July.

Last month, Lawrence Taylor was arrested in Pembrook Pines, Florida, on allegations of failing to live at his registered address on the sex offender registry. Authorities charged him with not reporting his change of address. They were under the impression that he had been living in a hotel for months due to a failing marriage. However, LT had a hail mary just in time.
The charges have been dropped because the claims came from his estranged wife, who is allegedly trying to get back at him as an act of revenge with false claims to gain leverage in their three-year divorce battle. Things have to be quite acrimonious if you are willing to get your soon-to-be ex-husband arrested on a felony charge that he did not commit. How unethical.
The NFL Player’s Arrest History
What’s all this business about addresses and registries? If you google ‘Lawrence Taylor’ you will see news stories about the event that put him on the registry. In 2010, LT had relations with a 16-year-old runaway girl who was being human-trafficked by a man who physically assaulted her. He drove her to Lawrence Taylor’s hotel room and told her to have sex for $300. LT and the young teen did have relations that night, and as a result, he received six years of probation and is to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
In 2021, he was arrested for the same charge. You would think after being on the registry for over 10 years he would be more on top of reporting his address—get it together, LT! In 2017, he had the unfortunate circumstance of being charged with a DUI after he crashed into a parked police car. And that’s only the 2010s and on. We won’t get into all of his earlier stuff. Lawrence Taylor hasn’t made a bad decision he didn’t like, but he still should only be charged with offenses he actually committed. Come on, disgruntled Mrs. Taylor!
Final Thoughts
The only chaos that LT is creating is in divorce court and on the golf course. He is an older man now, and football, a crappy marriage, and copious drug use in youth have left him all the way slowed down. Lawrence Taylor is cruising down an easy street; he just needs to remember to report just where that street is every time he moves. If he doesn’t, he might not be so lucky next time.
