For as long as I can remember, women who want their nails to last for a long time would opt for an acrylic manicure. However, there has been a new development in the area of press-on. Press-on nails have more than just improved throughout the years. They are now made with better materials which are meant to last longer. There are also so many different designs to choose from and even the nail glue used to attach them has been through an upgrade as well. How would you choose which option is the best for you?
Benefits of Acrylic Nails
Acrylic nails have a few benefits and can help promote healthy nails. If you have weak nails that crack, chip, or break often trying acrylic could help stop your nails from breaking. As I have previously mentioned, they are the longer-lasting option. Besides being able to keep them on for long periods, acrylic also helps prevent nail biting. The logic is simple if you cover up your nails you won’t be able to bite them.
The Proof Is In The Press-on Nails
Press-on nails have their advantages as well. They are easy to apply and it doesn’t take too long to prep for wear. You can change them as often as you’d like – switch up your shape, length, and color anytime you want. If they are easy to put on then guess what… they are also easy to remove. The removal process is far less time-consuming. Unlike acrylic nails, taking off press-ons is so much more gentler overall.
Press-on Nails: Affordable, But At What Cost?
The prolonged use of press-on nails will cause some damage to your real nails underneath. Anyone who goes to get an acrylic manicure knows that most times if you’re taking off your nails by yourself, you’re at risk of causing damage to the nail underneath. But, did you know prolonged use of press-on nails can cause damage as well? Gluing them on frequently will cause damage to the nail if they aren’t removed properly.
Pressed For Nail Options
I am an acrylic nail kind of girl. Acrylic/tips last longer and are more durable. But don’t get me wrong, I like a good press-on nail as an affordable quick fix. These will do the trick when you have somewhere important to go on short notice. Just pop out a set of press-on nails and some nail glue, then guess what … you’re good to go! The moral of the story is, that no matter what you choose to do with your nails there is a possibility of damage. So as long as you take care of your nails and can manage to maintain them then you’ll be just fine.
