Siamese Cats. What comes to mind when you think about choosing the breed, is how your potential furry friend factors into you or your family’s day-to-day lives. It can be very difficult to foresee your pet’s personality especially if it is adopted on the spur of the moment prompting people to think long and hard about adopting a new cat.
However, it is possible to choose a pure-bred pet that matches the personality traits that are deemed a good fit for the family dynamic. For example, when a family chooses to adopt a cat, they often look for a breed that can easily adapt to its surroundings making the Siamese the preferred choice of families everywhere.
Siamese Personality Traits
Symbolic of being elite, Siamese Cats were bred in the Kingdom of Siam now “Modern Day Thailand” and were only allowed to be kept by Royals and Monks to guard palaces and temples. Needless to say, the breed has certainly gained a reputation for being regal as well as protective over their people and surroundings. This breed also tends to have a highly energetic personality and is very vocal, especially when seeking attention.
So, be prepared to make your pet the center of attention and keep a variety of toys handy as they prefer to have options. They are also considered extremely affectionate, friendly, and gentle making them a great addition to any family. Let’s face it they are pretty cute too, so who wouldn’t want one?
Why Siamese are Chosen Over Other Breeds

What sets these adorably vocal felines apart from other cat breeds is they tend to single out and bond with their favorite member of the family. Speaking from someone who has owned two Siamese Cats I can confirm that this is true. I’m not sure why they preferred me over other family members, but I never complained even when I became a human-treat-dispenser.
And as funny as that may sound it’s true. This breed makes you work to earn the title of #1 human and they like being put on a pedestal, but once you are deemed worthy, you have gained a friend for life. Perhaps this is why they are the preferred choice over other breeds. This cat is also relatively low maintenance, requires little to no grooming, and has mild to medium potential health issues.
These issues include but are not limited to Feline Dental Disease, Feline Asthma and Bronchitis, Convergent Strabismus (Crossed Eyes), Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome, Difficulty, Swallowing, Amyloidosis (Over Abundance of Protein in the Body), Nystagmus, and Regurgitation.

There’s a lot to consider but this should be a decision that factors in your whole family, research should be done, and consider all pros and cons. Siamese cats can make wonderful pets for you and your family but the fit needs to be right for everyone involved.
