The 2000s Xgames featured Tony Hawk in a pair of chunky etnies shoes. What you may not realize is that Etnies shoes 2000 shaped the skate shoe industry. They are currently celebrating their 35th anniversary, yes, 35th, we’re that old.

Etnies The OG’s
Originally called Etnics, Etnies were inspired by ethnic tribes. Another brand thought the name Etnics was too close to their brand name and sent out a letter, causing the company to change to Etnies.
The first pro skate shoe they released was the NATAS, which caused a few skate shops to be hesitant to stock the shoe. Why, you may ask? Because the name of the shoe, which is spelled backward, is satan. But now they’re back.
We can shoutout the legendary OG’s Avril and Tony Hawk for making Etnies so popular during the skate era of the 2000s. Speaking of Avril, has anyone gone down the TikTok rabbit hole of how she is a clone of the original Avril? Kind of scary.
Callicut Is Back
In a recent blog post Etnies mentioned that the iconic Callicut is back. She’s back and she’s better. The blog post lead with IYKYK and we know. Not only do we know, but we are ready. The shoe is only available at Zumiez. The collab with the popular skate store is no surprise.
