Southport Stabbings Suspect Revealed With Detailed Updates

Tributes left where the Southport stabbings took place.

After the tragic Southport stabbings that led to the murder of three children and eight injured, a name and face have been given to the suspect, and that’s Axel Rudakubana, a 17-year-old Cradiff-born teenage boy. It turns out that Rudakubana also made an appearance on BBC’s Children in Need in the past dressed as Doctor Who. However, the BBC removed the video out of respect for the victims. Rudakubana has been charged with multiple counts of murder and attempted murder, with the next hearing being set for October 25 in the wake of the stabbings in Southport.

Controversy Around Revealing Axel Rudakubana’s Identity

The police hid Rudakubana’s identity at first due to his age, he is to turn 18 on Wednesday. However, Judge Andrew Menary KC had to reveal his identity before he turned 18 and lifted reporting restrictions. He did this to prevent the spread of misinformation that has led to chaotic protests in Southport and other locations in the UK. Rudakubana, the one responsible for the stabbings in Southport, was born to Rwandan parents in Cardiff, Wales in 2006. He has been living in Banks, Lancashire, and moved to the Southport area in 2013.

He appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday and has been charged with three counts of murder of Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven. In addition, he has been charged with 10 counts of attempted murder of yoga class instructor Leanne Lucas, businessman John Hayes, and eight children, whose identities are not revealed for legal reasons. Furthermore, he was charged with one count of possession of a kitchen knife with a curved blade.

He made it to court wearing a baggy grey tracksuit and black slippers. He smiled before sitting down and then he pulled his sweatshirt above his nose and kept his head low during the five-minute Southport stabbings hearing without speaking. A plea and trial preparation hearing has been set for October 25 at Liverpool Crown Court. A provisional trial date, lasting six weeks, is scheduled for January 20, 2025.

The Aftermath of the Stabbings in Southport

The stabbings left those who have been through it traumatized. Five children are still in critical condition, and another two have been discharged from the hospital. In addition to this, three adults have been injured in the wake of the stabbings in Southport: yoga teacher Leanne Lucas, dance teacher Heidi Liddle, and Jonathan Hayes, managing director of Calculus Legal Costs. Furthermore, riots and protests have taken place and five were arrested in the wake of these riots due to the spread of false information that the stabber was a refugee.

There’s also a heroic granddad, Steve, 66, who took a dozen of the children into his home when the stabbings in Southport took place. He even had one bleeding girl telling him that she was going to die. Steve was in his front driveway outside his home on Hart Street when he heard screaming that was not stopping. That’s when he saw children running at him and he gladly sheltered them. He even went to help outside, after he made sure that his wife and the children were safe, to help get more children to safety.
