Someone is a hound dog, but it’s not Elvis Presley or Big Mama Thorton. A woman was brazen enough to set up an elaborate scheme to take Graceland from Presley’s family out from under them. The Presley extended family has more family curses than square feet of the giant Memphis mansion. Surely, the financial piranhas can circle around someone other than celebrities in tragic circumstances? Matthew Perry, and now Presley in this fateful week.
The Graceland Mansion

Curious about where Presley’s home got its name? The S.C. Toof family owned 500 acres and passed down the land from generation to generation. One of the Toof family relatives was named Grace, and the land was named after her. In 1939, the mansion was built that we associate so closely with Elvis Presley. Grace’s niece actually had classical recitals in the mansion, so there is a strong music background in that home.
In 1957, Presley became the owner of the home and surrounding land when he was just 22 for a mere $100,000. He was just one year into being a megastar when he bought Graceland. That’s confidence, right there. Friends and family lived in the mansion with Presley over the years, and six people within the family are buried there now. That includes the King himself, his parents, his grandma, his daughter, and his daughter’s son. There is also a memorial for Elvis Presley’s twin, who was stillborn on the premises. The mansion is worth an estimated $400–$500 million in 2024.
Lisa Jeanine Findley Faces Consequences
Needless to say, Graceland is an expensive property with a beautiful legacy. It was exactly the kind of thing that a person like Lisa Jeanine Findley, allegedly, wanted to take. Ms. Findley was charged on the 47th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death. She is facing mail fraud and aggravated identity theft, and she could possibly get 22 years of jail time for her scheme. Don’t mess with a Presley!
In one of the more confusing fraud scandals of our time, Findley attempted to force the Presley family to pay her nearly $3 million as a settlement to keep Graceland, allegedly. She was reported to have possibly made a false claim that Lisa Marie Presley used the property as collateral for a loan. She then allegedly published a foreclosure notice and put a notice in the local paper that the property was up for auction. Finley appears to have posed as three different people who created the fraudulent lender, the fake loan documents, and the foreclosure notice.
Elvis Presley’s granddaughter said absolutely not, and the mystery auction was permanently put on hold when she sued the phony company. Things are getting spicier since the notary who supposedly signed off on the loan says she never worked with the company, meaning the signature on the document is likely fake as well. In one of the most smarmy parts of this entire operation, Findley’s allegedly attempted to blame the scandal on a Nigerian identity thief who was part of a fraud ring. She supposedly used an email she used with her fraudulent company to send this ‘intel’ to a major news website.
Although Findley was creative, she wasn’t particularly good at executing her scheme. Her fraudulent company fell like a house of cards once investigators began examining the technology behind the scenes. In another decision that appears less than wise, she is using a lawyer who did not have contact information in court documents and goes by multiple aliases. If he is real, that is. Have we ever seen him and Findley in the same room?
Elvis Presley’s Death Anniversary

The King of Rock and Roll left this earth on August 16th, 1977, at 3:30 PM in Memphis, Tennessee. It’s fairly controversial over what exactly caused it—perhaps in an attempt to keep Presley’s legacy as untarnished as possible, some lies were made. The medical examiner determined that Elvis Presley experienced cardiac arrest and had coronary heart disease, hypertension, and a history of heart disease in the family. However, reports reveal that he had 14 different prescription drugs in his system, some at dangerous levels, and that is likely what caused the cardiac event. Was the medical examiner genuine? Was something being hidden to protect people? The world may never know. It’s sad because much of Presley’s career was defined by exploitation. And even after his death, people are still trying.
In Conclusion
It’s either disturbing or vindicating that Lisa Jeanine Findley was charged with allegedly trying to take Grassland on Elvis Presley’s death anniversary. On one hand, it feels like justice is being served; on the other hand, it’s a reminder of what people will do to the rich in vulnerable moments. Lisa Marie Presley just died last year, and it was a horrific time to go after the grieving family. To do so in such a calculated way shows someone is in an appalling state of mind. On the heels of Matthew Perry’s death and the recent charges showing people calling him “moron” and hugely upcharging for ketamine he was addicted to because he was rich, this news hits differently. The utter lack of concern for people in the pursuit of the almighty dollar is awful. Findley is in the hands of justice now, just where she belongs.
