On Tuesday, May 14, Suge Knight gave an interview for NewsNation’s “CUOMO”. The former CEO of Death Row Records talked about several different topics, but one of the more headline-catching statements came as he discussed the Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking and racketeering trial. He suggested that President Trump would consider pardoning the embattled hip-hop mogul should he be convicted of the charges he faces.

Suge Knight is a former hip-hop recording artist who is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence, which began back in 2018. The former Death Row Records CEO was convicted of voluntary manslaughter and is eligible for parole in 2034. In an interview with Chris Cuomo of CUOMO on News Nation, Suge Knight let his feelings about Diddy be known, and it appears he has some thoughts on how the entire trial will go down.

“I still feel that Puffy’s gonna be all right and have a fair shot at it, because Puffy didn’t — he’s not a dummy,” Knight said. “I’m quite sure somebody’s going to talk to those jurors and convince one or two of them — that’s all you need, is one,” he told host Chris Cuomo. “So, at the end of the day, it’s going to be a real exciting situation, but I think he’s going to be all right.”

Suge Knight continued, “I think he got some favors with the government. I think they’re going to show him a little leeway. It might not seem like it when it’s all said and done, but I don’t think he had nothing to worry about. I don’t think he’s worried, because he’s going to be federal. And if he gets convicted, Trump’s going to pardon him.”

Cuomo seemed shocked to think Trump would pardon the sex trafficking charges, but Knight insisted. “S‑‑‑, he pardoned Michael Harris. They don’t care about that. It’s all about, you know, what’s in it for the long run.” Harris was granted clemency, although it was after serving 33 years for drug charges. Harris did endorse Trump’s reelection in 2024.

Final Thoughts

Sean “Diddy” Combs is probably hoping that Suge Knight is correct. After jury selection extended last week, the first few days of his trial began. Diddy faces five separate criminal charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering, and if convicted, could be penalized by up to life in prison. Knight has confidence in Diddy’s ability to win the trial, but the evidence available makes his battle an uphill one. The trial continues over the next weeks, and updates on the major goings-on will be released accordingly.
