Super Cool Water Parks You Should Take Your Family to This Summer

Whether you’re looking for a place to cool off or a place to party with your family and friends, look no further! There are plenty of water parks to enjoy this summer and the best part is you don’t have to necessarily travel very far to get to a water park as there are several across the USA.

Wherever you are in the USA, there are water parks everywhere. You just have to do a simple Google search to find the closest one to you. If you’re vacationing, it will be worth it to see where the closest water park is to you and spend a day there.

Water Parks are a blast to go to. They provide a family-friendly atmosphere while you have fun getting soaking wet without a care in the world. Whether it’s an expensive and exclusive resort, a less-expensive water park, or an open-to-the-public-free splash pad, the whole family is invited to come and “make waves.” Here are some water parks you can go to spend time with your family:

Water Parks: Disney Resort

Let’s begin with the cream of the crop when it comes to water parks. If you’ve been to Disney resorts, Hollywood Studios, or any of Disney World or Disney Land, you know what Disney has to offer for both kids and adults. Disney has a couple of water parks to choose from. One is called Typhoon Lagoon and the other is Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park.

Typhoon Lagoon boasts of having the largest wave pool in North America in the Typhoon’s Surf Pool. Ride the Crush N’ Gusher which is where you ride a raft made for two and features exhilarating dips and turns. Or you could gather your group together and go for an enjoyable whitewater rafting ride. Blizzard Beach Water Park has one of the tallest and fastest free-falling body slides in the world called Mount Gushmore.

Tickets are available to purchase online or you can go to the park and pay in person. I highly recommend purchasing ahead of time and planning out your day ahead of time. It will save you time in the long run. Tickets run $74 for children ages 10 and up and for ages 3-9 tickets cost $68. Prices listed are before tax and apply to just one day at the water park.

Water Parks: The Best of the Best

With a name like Schlitterbahn: New Braunfels, Texas you’d think you had stepped into another part of the world. But it’s just a cool name for a cool water park that is powered by the natural springs of Comal River. Not at all what you expected, is it?  This is one of the world’s best water parks. Schlitterbahn is an award-winning water park known for the first-ever up-hill water coaster as well as the world’s first wave river and the world’s longest tubing river.

Another water park in Marietta, Georgia is Six Flags White Water. This is a stand-alone park so there are no rollercoasters and it has a large collection of slides and pools. Another Six Flags water park is in Jackson, New Jersey called Hurricane Harbor. Hurricane Harbor runs in three different states: Texas, New Jersey, and Los Angeles. It is recommended to go during the week as lines are particularly long to certain attractions during the weekend. This can be said about many places, but Hurricane Harbor is especially popular.

In Draper, Utah, there is Cowabunga Bay Water Park. General Admission is fairly reasonable with children 48″ and up $25 with small children being $21 and seniors $10. That’s a far cry from Disney’s prices, but Disney does have more to offer for guest’s experience. Cowabunga has a 60’s theme to offer its guests and has several slides to choose from. There is also Myrtle Waves located at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and if you’re further up north, Santa Claus, Indiana has Splashin’ Safari as well as there is Noah’s Ark in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

Legoland Water Park in Carlsbad, California has several attractions to offer as well. Some of the most important attractions are building your very own raft to float down the river and another favorite attraction is shooting water cannons as you slide down a slide. This is a pricier park as well as it’s Legoland and has more to offer. For a kid’s ticket deal, the park is $30 for three parks. The next price is for park tickets starting at about $80.

Water Parks: Safety Tips

Depending on where you are in the United States, there are many places you can go. Travel anywhere where’s there a major city or beach and there’s bound to be a water park of some kind around. Ticket prices vary widely but most places have a website you can go to. While you’re on the internet you may find other attractions besides the water park to go to such as restaurants.

Be sure to pack adequately for the trip to the water park as well. Bring a beach bag filled with sunscreen, towels, water shoes, and bottles of water (if allowed at the park). It is important to stay hydrated and to make sure you apply sunscreen a few times during the day, not just once right before you get into the water the first time. Sunscreen soaks into the skin after a time and water washes it off so it will be important to reapply.

Make sure to bring a good pair of water shoes at any of the water parks. I don’t recommend flip-flops because flip-flops can break and they can slip sideways off your foot. Closed-toe water shoes are best at places like a water park because they usually have non-slid soles in a very slippery place. Most importantly, have fun out there and be safe this summer!
