The Extended Side Angle pose is moderately hard, do not push yourself if you find this pose too difficult. To start, you want to be standing straight, feet shoulder width apart, shoulders back and head forward. Separate your feet until they are three or four feet apart and raise your arms out from your sides until they are level with your shoulders.
Rotate the foot of the opposite side you would like to stretch; you will be bearing your weight on this foot, so start with the side you are most comfortable with. Once your foot is pointed out, bend that knee until it is at a 90-degree angle and is directly over your ankle.
The other leg stays straight and keep your corresponding arm up over your head. Place your other hand on the floor beside your foot, and keep your head pointed towards your arm in the air. If this bothers your neck, look straight ahead, or look down at the floor instead. Hold the pose for a few breaths and switch sides.
