TikTok Influencer Shot Dead in Mexico
Marquez was sitting inside a beauty salon in Zapopan when the live stream footage caught the tragic incident. The influencer, who was wearing the same bodysuit she wore in her latest Instagram post, was holding a stuffed pig in her lap in the minutes before her death.
She was saying, “They’re coming,” in Spanish, before someone greeted her off-screen, “Hey, Val?” Marquez muted the sound and responded “yes” to the greeter. Seconds later, the TikTok Influencer appeared to be shot by a weapon. Her Instagram following skyrocketed after the tragedy, with a mix of shock and support in the comments.
The person was her alleged assailant, who was never seen in the video. The TikTok Influencer clutched her abdomen as blood spilled on the table, and her body hunched over the chair she was sitting on. The murder occurred at around 6:30 p.m. local time, after police arrived on the scene after receiving a 911 call.
Per the local Attorney General’s office, upon translation, “Elements of the Municipal Police went to the scene after receiving the report through the 9-1-1 emergency service, confirming the death of the victim. Paramedics who also appeared at the site corroborated that the woman no longer had vital signs. According to the first lines of investigation, she was in her establishment when a man entered the place and fired a firearm against her, depriving her of her life.”
Upon arriving at the scene, city police officers and paramedics confirmed Marquez’s death. The TikTok Influencer’s death is under investigation for potential femicide, defined by the UN as “an intentional killing with a gender-related motivation.” Statista ranked Mexico as the second-highest Latin American nation for femicides in 2023, and Brazil was the highest that same year. Last year, the country recorded nearly 800 femicide cases, a decrease from previous years.
Per Statista, the majority of victims had preexisting familial or communal relationships with their aggressors. Initial investigations for the murder found that the killer, a man, had entered the premises and fired a weapon at Marquez. Investigators are still working on gathering evidence to solve the crime. Marque’s body is set to be transferred to the Jailsco Institute of Forensic Sciences for an official autopsy.
Final Thoughts
So many of Marquez’s social media followers have paid their respects to the late TikTok influencer by posting comments on her posts, which included selfies and professional modeling photos. One fan wrote, via Spanish translation, “She was so beautiful.” Another follower wrote, via Spanish translation, “She was very beautiful, I hope justice is served, she didn’t deserve that ending.”
Marquez was only 23 years old. In other news, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that the United States won World War II alone during a speech to U.S. troops at Al Udeid Air Base in Doha, Qatar. Russ Alan McKamey, the owner of the McKamey Manor, officially announced that the establishment will still operate despite calls for its shutdown.
