On Sunday, May 18, just hours after former President Joe Biden’s team announced that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, Donald Trump Jr. used the social media platform X to mock Biden’s wife, Jill. In his post, Donald Trump’s eldest son implied that those closest to Joe had either overlooked or hidden his illness. Trump Jr. particularly targeted Jill in his cruel and uncalled-for post.
Trump Jr. Doesn’t Get Doctorate
“What I want to know is how did Dr. Jill Biden miss stage five metastatic cancer, or is this yet another cover-up???” Trump Jr. wrote about Biden’s wife, 73. Jill Biden is often referred to as Dr. Biden because she has a doctorate in education. One X user responded to Trump Jr’s post, “When one user commented on his post, ‘This is an effort to push the fact Joe was running the country as a vegetable under the rug,’ and Don Jr. replied, ‘Without question.”
Trump Jr. Posts Incorrect Info
In his post, Trump Jr. incorrectly shared that Biden had stage 5 prostate cancer. Biden was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, which his team shared had spread to his bones. On Monday, May 19, Trump Jr used X to double down on his latest conspiracy theory. In this post, he attacked Joe Biden’s mental capabilities.
“Joe says he had cancer 2 years ago & everyone said it’s a gaffe. When he clearly had dementia, everyone said he’s lucid. Now that he’s no longer useful, they’re all shocked that they missed it,” he wrote. “Everyone was in on the cover-up! Who was running the country? We need accountability!”
Before Trump Jr. started slinging conspiracy theories and insults, he appeared to wish Biden well. In his first comment about the situation, he wrote, “Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Politics aside, we wish him a speedy recovery!” and wrote that, “Agreed 100%.”
Trump Responds To Biden’s Diagnosis
Donald Trump used his social media platform Truth Social to make his statement about Biden’s diagnosis, writing, “Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”
Throughout Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and even after he returned to the White House, he repeatedly questioned Biden’s mental fitness. Trump often referred to Biden as “feeble” and claimed he was not able to properly carry out his duties.
Biden Resting At Home
Just a few days after being diagnosed, Joe Biden posted an image of himself and Jill on X and thanked everyone who was supporting him. “Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support,” he posted on May 19.
