Donald Trump Issued Warning As Vote For Impeachment Is Abruptly Canceled

Donald Trump issued warning after impeachment vote halted.

After the vote to impeach Donald Trump was abruptly halted, Trump was issued a warning. The seven articles of impeachment were introduced by Democratic Rep. Shri Thanedar. This week, the articles were pushed forward to the House floor for a vote. However, on Wednesday, Thanedar shared on the social media platform X that he had made the decision not to force the vote on the House floor. He instead decided to expand the articles and try to rally support from both sides.

Vote Halted

“After talking with many colleagues, I have decided not to force a vote on impeachment today. Instead, I will add to my articles of impeachment and continue to rally the support of both Democrats and Republicans to defend the Constitution with me,” he wrote.

His decision to abruptly stop the vote and issue a warning to the president is a sign that there is a deep division in Congress. It also suggests that Thanedar is strategically realigning the Democratic Party. It also shows that it is a difficult task holding Trump responsible for his actions.

What To Know

In his articles of impeachment, Thanedar accused the president of violating the Constitution in his actions of rapidly deporting migrants and cutting funds without getting approval from Congress. The articles also accused Trump of wrongly using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA to justify his tariffs. The articles also bring up the president’s banning of a reporter from White House briefings, as well as letting Elon Musk and his DOGE personnel have access to Americans’ personal data.

Trump’s Actions Called ‘Tyrannical’

“Article seven, tyrannical overreach,” Thanedar said. “Finally, and most importantly, he is attempting to consolidate unchecked power and erode the constitutional limits of the presidency. In this country, we have presidents, not kings. That’s not just misconduct. It’s impeachable misconduct, he added.

$400 Million “Flying Palace”

Thanedar said in his X post that the president has committed more crimes since he filed the articles. Among those offenses, he included the intent to accept a $400 million luxury jet from Qatar. The “flying palace,” according to Qatari officials, was being gifted to Trump by the Qatari Ministry of Defense to the Pentagon. However, Trump made the decision that the Boeing 747- 8 jet would be used for his personal use and replace Air Force One. Trump’s critics, including some Republicans, have said that Trump’s acceptance of the gift violates constitutional gift rules.

Trump Wants Third Term

There is also a growing concern among Democrats that the president will try to get rid of the Constitution and run for a third term. Trump is already selling Trump 2028 hats on his website. “If we let this stand, we are saying the president is above the law. That the United States Constitution is optional,” Thanedar said last month. “I won’t be silent, and I’m calling on all my colleagues, Democrats, Republicans, and independents, to stand up with me.”

“Enough is enough. Donald J. Trump must be impeached,” he concluded. However, some Democrats are pushing for Thanedar to drop the impeachment articles simply because Republicans rule both the House and Senate.
