Tucker Carlson wants Donald Trump to step in and try to “rescue” his buddy Russell Brand from rape and sexual assault charges he is facing in the UK. Carlson has also asked his followers to “pray” that Trump will make the decision to intervene in the situation. Brand has been accused by four women of rape/sexual assault. He appeared in court on Saturday. He did not enter a plea. He must appear again on May 20th.
Tucker Carlson Supports Brand
According to Tucker Carlson, Brand is facing these charges simply because he is on team MAGA. Carlson shared his thoughts on X on Friday. “Russell Brand was once a famous left-wing actor, celebrated by the British establishment,” Carlson wrote, “then he criticized the government for using Covid to turn the UK into a totalitarian state.” Four women have come forward with allegations against Brand, and the rape and sexual assault charges he now faces come from a year-and-a-half investigation.
Carlson Hosted Brand On Podcast
Tucker Carlson has had Brand on his Fox News podcast and claims that the government has made up the charges to get back at Brand for publicly “criticizing” it. The allegations against Brand first became public in 2023. After Saturday’s court date, he is back in the US on conditional bail. In order to leave the UK and return to Florida, where he now resides, he had to supply the court with his address.
Brand Shares Carlson’s Post
Brand shared Carlson’s X post: “None of the charges are backed by hard evidence. Brand, whose youngest child is barely a year old, now faces life in prison. He has no shot at a fair trial, because Britain is no longer a free country… Say a prayer that the Trump administration comes to his rescue.” It is unclear if Trump will take an interest in Russell Brand’s case; however, Brand has immersed himself in the MAGA world. He has repeatedly pushed anti-vax conspiracy theories.
Brand Partied At Mar-A-Largo
Brand has also claimed he has had a religious transformation since the allegations have surfaced. In December, he was seen partying at Mar-a-Lago, celebrating Trump’s second inauguration. Earlier this week, Brand shared a video online from a press conference when Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s White House press secretary, said Trump may consider granting asylum to British citizens in a jam.
“I have not heard that proposed to the president, nor have I spoken to him about that idea, but I certainly can talk to our national security team and see if it’s something the administration would entertain,” she replied.
Carlson Back In Trump’s Good Graces
Tucker Carlson lost his job at Fox News in 2023 because a series of embarrassing text messages were made public. In one of the texts, Carlson wrote that he “passionately” hated Trump. Tucker Carlson, however, appears back in Trump’s good graces. Before the 2024 election, Trump had said that he liked Carlson “a lot.” At the time, he stated that he was under consideration for being his running mate.
