Multiple cultures have their own version of the popular pairing. The combination might seem alarming to some, the combination of juicy sweet watermelon and savory feta cheese.

Ingredients
Keep in mind some of these ingredients are optional. You can always tweak the recipe to your liking by adding and deleting ingredients. If you want to add something crunchy, try almonds or walnuts. If you want something a little more filling, try adding brown rice or quinoa. For the basic recipe, you will need the following:
- Red Onion
- Cucumber
- Feta Cheese
- Avocado
- Mint
- Basil
- Serrano Pepper (optional) Depending on your heat preference
- Lime Dressing (olive oil, lime juice, garlic, sea salt) or buy one pre-made!
Instructions
Let’s get cooking! Don’t worry, there’s nothing too complicated going on here.
- Start by making the dressing. In a bowl combine and whisk 2 tbsp olive oil, 3 tbsp lime juice, 1/2 clove of garlic, 1/4 tsp salt.
- Cube 5 cups watermelon, 1 cucumber, 1 red onion and 1 avocado.
- Combine the above ingredients with 1/3 cup of crumbled feta.
- Add 1/3 cup or your desired amount of mint and basil.
- Drizzle the lime dressing on top and serve!

Okay, so what about a picnic or a summer party? What will pair well with this refreshing salad? If we are trying to add a few things together to create a dish let’s talk about the main course. A meat of any kind, lightly grilled, will pair nicely with the watermelon and feta flavors. Whether you choose chicken, shrimp, or pork, your guests are sure to go crazy.
